Liuteria Appino produces instruments inspired by Selmer - Maccaferri guitars.

Barbis 22f model
This is a “hybrid” gypsy-jazz guitar model with a warm sound, adjustable bridge and side sound hole.
It looks and sounds as a typical gypsy-jazz guitar but is more versatile.
The adjustable side sound hole makes a big difference for the musician in terms of volume and harmonics.
"Val di Fiemme" spruce is used for the soundboard, indian rosewood is used for sides and back, ebony is used for the fingerboard and the bridge.
Mother of pearl dots.
I use a matt acrylic paint for this model which gives it a “vintage” look.
Gypsy 21f model
This is a gypsy-jazz guitar model with a typical “Manouche” sound.
This guitar is made following the 807 Selmer-Maccaferri model drawings but I preferred to use solid wood instead of laminated wood for sides and back. "Val di Fiemme" spruce is used for the soundboard, indian rosewood is used for sides and back, ebony is used for the fingerboard and the bridge. Mother of pearl and bone are used for dots. Ebony and maple are used for the decorative binding. The shape of the bridge is thought considering the compensation factor. This model is varnished with nitrocellulose paint.
Standard 21f model
Typical "petite bouche" gypsy-jazz guitar.
This guitar is made following the 807 Selmer-Maccaferri model drawings but I preferred to use solid wood instead of laminated wood for sides and back. "Val di Fiemme" spruce is used for the soundboard, indian rosewood is used for sides and back, ebony is used for the fingerboard and the bridge. Boxwood is used for dots. The shape of the bridge is thought considering the compensation factor. This model is varnished with polyurethane paint.
